Martha’s Vineyard: What’s Hot, and What’s Not

Sometimes you have to really read an article to find the point.
Buried in this puff piece, loaded with comments from locals and written to give the impression that the reason the Obama family vacation isn’t generating a frenzy this time is because the President just works so hard, and deserves a nice vacation with peace and quiet, is this telling bit of information:
One barometer western union sri lanka nintavur of the plunge in excitement has been the sale of Obama-themed T-shirts, which designers had been banking on after the craze of last year.
Clothing labeled with the president’s name sold by the thousands, helping to salvage a tough economic year for the island.
But this year’s T-shirt sales are much less brisk, merchants say.
“Last year, Obama gave you goose bumps, but I don’t think you’re going to see that this year,’’ said Alex McCluskey, co-owner of western union ukraine rozdolne the Locker Room, who sold more than 4,000 “I vacationed with Obama’’ T-shirts last year. But so far this year, he said, his hot item is T-shirts of former President Bush asking, “Miss me yet?’’
So, George W. Bush “Miss Me Yet” t-shirts are outselling Obama t-shirts, even with the first family vacationing in town.
Maybe there’s some reason, other than believing such a hard-working president deserves another vacation, that even a liberal enclave like Martha’s Vineyard has lost its enthusiasm.

God, that’s a beautiful visual…the Royal Family touring the island, waving to the crowd of onlooking peasants wearing “Miss Me” t-shirts. Gardener, you made my day!

I can see them now, pedaling their little rented bicycles around, wearing helmets, plenty of sunscreen, and sunglasses with blinders attached.
